BOOK The Enemy
AUTHOR Lee Child PAGES 1-100
TOTAL PAGES THIS WEEK 102
QUESTION 1:
Explain how the author creates suspense in this book.
RESPONSE 1:
There are a lot of  suspenseful parts in this book. It is about a military police officer and a case that is one of the hardest and most confusing that he has dealt with. One of the main ways that he creates suspense in this book is by using very descriptive writing. He makes walking into a room and looking for someone into a two page piece that talks in detail about the five senses and the caution the person takes. It makes you really want to read more.

Also, the topic is very suspenseful. I really enjoy books and shows about crime scene investigators and stories about detectives so this is a very easy way to get me into reading novels. So far I am really enjoying this book and can't wait to find out the next turn towards Jack Reacher's case.
QUESTION 2:
How did what you read today make you feel? Why?
RESPONSE 2:
I felt a lot when I read this week. mostly, I was shocked at the events that were happening. The author uses a lot of descriptions to describe things and makes the character go through a lot. An example of these events is that along with the two star general dying, his wife was found dead in their house in D.C. from a blow to the head with a crow bar. Also, the briefcase that contains essential information is missing and the only people who knew about the information in the briefcase just came out of hiding and didn't help them solve the case at all. On top of all of this, Jack Reacher (the main character) had to travel to Paris, France to hear that his mother was dying from cancer.

Also, I felt sad that all of this was happening and he had to go through it all at one time. Although he doesn't show his depression, the author hints that he is worried. Another reason why sadness is apart of this weeks reading is because he just got moved to North Carolina to a small base from a job that he was a big part of. I hope that he isn't going to lose his job.
